Terms of Service

1. The app

Break The Pattern helps you replace your morning scroll with a short gratitude check-in. It uses Apple's Screen Time framework to block the apps you choose until you check in, and to limit your daily use.

The app is a self-help tool. It isn't medical, psychological or addiction treatment. If you're struggling, please talk to a qualified professional.

2. Your account

You need to be at least 13 years old to use the app. Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account. You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account.

3. Subscriptions

• Some features require a paid subscription. Prices, billing periods and any free trial are shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency.
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase. If a free trial is offered, you're charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before.
• Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
• Manage or cancel your subscription in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Deleting the app or your account doesn't cancel it.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.
• Invite rewards, such as a free trial for invited friends or a free year for inviting paying friends, follow the rules shown in the app. We can end or change invite rewards for new invites at any time. Rewards already earned are kept.

4. Screen Time blocking

• Blocking relies on Apple's Screen Time framework, which we don't control. It can be affected by iOS updates, device settings or bugs, so we can't guarantee that every block works at every moment.
• You can remove the app's Screen Time access at any time in iOS Settings → Screen Time. That lifts all blocks immediately.
• If a problem affects blocking, we may pause blocking for all users while we fix it. Your streak is protected during a pause.
• Don't rely on the app to block anything you need for safety, work or emergencies.

5. Your content

You own what you write and add (gratitudes, intentions, moments, highlights, photos). You give us permission to store and process it only to provide the app to you. We don't use it for marketing or to train AI models. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data.

6. Acceptable use

Don't misuse the app. That includes trying to access other people's data, interfering with the service, reverse engineering it, reselling access, or abusing invite rewards (for example with fake accounts). We can suspend or close accounts that do.

7. Our intellectual property

The app, its design, text, graphics and code belong to Break The Pattern LLC. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the app. They don't give you any other rights.

8. Changes and availability

We may change, add or remove features, or stop offering the app. If we stop offering it, we'll give reasonable notice where we can. We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the app. If you keep using the app after that, the new terms apply.

9. Disclaimer and liability

The app is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we don't give warranties beyond those required by law, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wyoming, United States, and disputes go to the courts of Sheridan County, Wyoming. If you live in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you keep the mandatory consumer protection rights of your country.

11. Apple

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its content. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and can enforce them. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app.
